The Boundary County Middle School girls hosted the Timberlake Tigers Tuesday, playing before a hometown crowd for the first time this season, and while the eighth graders fell, 48-18, the seventh graders turned the tables, romping to a 47-15 victory.
“It was the first home game this season so I am very proud of how the girls played,” Coach Kim Sheets said.
The eighth grade team enjoyed some fine moments, including a beautiful layin in the third quarter by Lillie Wright off a pass from Patience Curtis, but the seventh graders were hitting all game long on both defense, allowing only three Lady Tigers to score and none more than six points, and offense, with seven Badgers putting points on the board, including Jaycee Bateman, with 12 points, and Daisy Williams, who scored 10.
The Badger seventh graders jumped out to a 12-3 first quarter lead and went to half time up 21-5, then put on an exhibition in the third quarter with six Badgers shooting for 20 points.
The BCMS girls have two more home games before going back on the road; they host the Kellogg Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 25, and the St. Maries Lumberjacks at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 30.
On Thursday, February 1, they travel to Priest River to take on the Spartans.
