There is a bill (H0390) in the Idaho Senate that I would like to see pass. I contacted the sponsor and the committees. Now the Idaho Senate will possibly hear the bill, argue/debate if needed, vote, and move it forward or send it to the round file. Bill H0390 was on the agenda for Thursday, February 29, so I tuned in. An eye-opener for sure!
The session began at 11 a.m. A bill or two from the agenda were read, discussed, etc. Then a Senator spoke up to remind the body of a luncheon held by the Idaho Office for Refugees and sponsored by Idaho Dairymen.
Free lunch anyone? Lo and behold, the session adjourned until 4:30 p.m. Coming back into session, a few more items were discussed then it was time to quit for the day.
Whew … wipe the sweat from my brow!
On to Friday, March 1, and the session started at 11 a.m. Lo and behold, same read, rinse, repeat. Adjourned at 11:45 a.m. until Monday, March 4. TGIF anyone?
I learned that at any time during the session, a “time-out” can be requested. During this time, Senators acknowledge for recognition relatives, neighbors, mothers-in-law, Mickey and Minnie, etc., seated in the audience. Then it is back to the grindstone.
Over 700 bills have been introduced this session. After watching this clown show for a scant eight hours, when the headline reads Idaho legislature did not get work done, somehow, I will be grateful.
