On March 1, Lance Gidley was doing what he loved, exploring the mountains of the Upper Pack when he was caught in an avalanche and lost his life. Lance had over 25 years of experience in the Selkirk backcountry and has shared his knowledge and love with many in our community. Lance was an expert snowmobiler, skier, mountain biker and has passed those passions along to his wife Cathy, his son Jeru and his daughter Elsa.
Cathy has lived in Sandpoint for over 20 years and has donated countless hours to people in our community. She has been a kids ski coach for Schweitzer Alpine Racing School for over 10 years and is frequently referred to as “Coach Cathy” at Schweitzer.
Cathy has given countless hours to the local soccer clubs helping manage multiple soccer teams and making sure that whatever is needed gets done.
Cathy is the kind of person who goes out of her way to help. She never asks what needs to be done, she just sees the need and gets the job done.
Now, Cathy needs our help with all of the unknown expenses that she will have over the next few months and years. A GoFundMe account has been established for the family.
Rest in peace Lance… Make some fresh tracks!
