The Bonners Ferry High School FIRST Robotics Team, 2130 Alpha Plus, has been working hard in preparation for this year’s regional competition taking place Thursday and Friday, March 20-23, in the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, which will draw the best and brightest high school robotics teams from California, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada and Canada.
From a concept to a design to boxes and crates of switches, motors, wire, metal and circuit boards, resistors, capacitors, washers, nuts, bolts, brackets and more, the members of Team 2130 toiled and sawed and wired and drilled and programmed, fabricated parts and connected and tested, ever guided by teachers, mentors and experts and often joined by 2130 Alpha Plus teammates from one or several of the 17 BFHS robotics teams to have gone before, men and women come back to mentor, to share again the excitement the challenge … the fun.
Their work culminated in this year’s main bot, Ringo. If the team, in the heat of competition, can squeeze, tease and finesse every measure of capability they designed, programmed and built into Ringo, they could earn a chance to compete in the World competition later this year in Texas.
Here is a look at Ringo and a few of those who worked and toiled and brought Ringo to life, and in so doing brought learning, lifting and growing right along the bot they’ve built.
A thank you to team members Riley Thompson and Wyatt Phebus, who not only helped build Ringo, but took on the role of keeping the community informed, a chore quite often seen as insignificant but which is, in fact, essential. for who would know the stories but for the storytellers?
We greatly appreciate all our donors, sponsors, community, and mentors in their continued support in our conquest to go to Worlds.
