Lady Badgers fall to Troy, get second chance Saturday

Bonners Ferry Varsity Badgers couldn’t keep up with Troy Varsity Trojanettes and fell 12-6 on Tuesday. The Badgers got on board in the first inning after Alaina Schmier singled, scoring one run. The Badgers added one run in the second after Amanda Koehn singled.

The Trojanettes made the score 4-2 in the top of the third after Hailey Dungan doubled, scoring three runs, and Kylie Cole singled, scoring one run.

Taylor Sumpter stepped in the circle first for the Badgers, allowing two hits and six runs over three and two thirds innings, striking out 10 and walking seven. Sumpter led the Badgers with two hits in two at bats.

The Badgers had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Sumpter and Schmier led the team with two walks each.

Taylor Sumpter, Kyra Sumpter, Jaydin Falck, and Sami Koehn each stole multiple bases for the Badgers. The Badgers ran wild on the base paths, collecting 11 stolen bases for the game.

Dungan provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Troy with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1 for 4 on the day.

Leslie Gravier and Taana Grant each collected two hits for Troy. Kristi Jellesed paced Troy with five walks. Overall the team had patience at the plate, piling up 15 walks for the game. Cole and Jellesed each stole multiple bases for the Troy Varsity.

Troy ran wild on the base paths, amassing nine stolen bases for the game.

The Lady Badgers are on the road to Kellogg for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, and then to Troy at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13.
