Remembering selflessness in wake of community tragedy

2016 St. Ann's Fire

By Darrell Kerby

Neighbor helping neighbor. Eight years ago, at about 1 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, tragedy struck our Bonners Ferry Community’s Catholic Family. In the heart of our community, there’s a rhythm of compassion that beats through the selfless acts of our neighbors.

These are the unsung heroes who, without a second thought, dedicate countless hours to prepare for moments of crisis. They are the embodiment of courage, stepping into the fray when stress is high and the need is greatest.

Our volunteer firefighters and ambulance crews are the pillars upon which our safety rests, and their bravery is our sanctuary.

So, let’s not wait for a special occasion to express our heartfelt thanks. Embrace them with the warmth they deserve, for in the simple act of a hug, we find a shared comfort that resonates with love and mutual respect. It’s a small gesture for us, but for them, it’s a reminder that their sacrifices are seen, felt, and deeply appreciated.
