William Myron Spalding, 84, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024. One of nine siblings, Bill was born October 21, 1939, to Henry and Anna Spalding.
Upon graduation from Bonners Ferry High School in 1957, Bill went to work for his dad at the Spalding Mill until it burned down in 1961. He then joined his brother Don in a logging partnership before he went out on his own.
He logged for many years until his health gave out on him. While helping a friend build a house, Bill was struck forcefully in the head by a log boom, permanently injuring his back and knees.
During his life, Bill involved himself with community service by joining the local National Guard unit, assisting Dick Dawson with coaching youth boxers and fostering two children, Pat and Ivan David.
For hobbies, Bill loved playing guitar, singing, playing cards, collecting old and rare coins and telling many tall tales, for which he was famous.
He had an imagination that kept us on our toes! Bill entered Life Care assistance in 2020 and spent his final days there.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna (Lipp) Spalding; brothers Virgil, James, Raymond, Frank (Anna May) and Don; and brother-in-law Earl Brinkerhoff.
He is survived by his brother, Robert and (Ione) Spalding; sisters Eunice Brinkerhoff and Beth (Kearlee) Wright and many nieces and nephews.
