Montana winter storm warning to be followed by storm watch

2:20 p.m.: The winter storm warning in northwest Montana will remain in effect through 11 a.m. Wednesday for the Kootenai/Cabinet and Upper Clark Fork regions, and it will be followed with a new winter storm watch issued today by the National Weather Service, Missoula, which goes into effect late Wednesday night through late Thursday night.

Additional snow accumulations of about two inches in the valleys and five to eight inches in the mountains are expected before the current warning expires, and from five to 11 inches more is possible while the winter storm watch is in effect. In addition, the storm watch calls for rapidly dropping temperatures and winds gusting to 35 miles per hour.
