Cornel Rasor is a conservative community leader North Idahoans trust. He was raised in Bonner County, growing up on his parent’s ranch. Cornel and his wife Kim have been married for 47 years, and have been blessed with three children who still live in the area. They have been blessed with 16 grandchildren.
Cornel is known to many in Bonner County as the owner/operator of Sandpoint’s Army Surplus 1 store. He has been the wise and friendly public face of this patriotic North Idaho institution for 42 years.
Cornel has served in leadership for both the Bonner County Republican Party and the Idaho State Republican Party for decades. He is considered to be a mentor and a friend to several high ranking Idaho republicans. He currently is one of the party’s most prominent experts on parliamentary procedure, and is often called upon by the IDGOP to give classes on the subject around the state.
In 2008, Cornel was elected by his neighbors to the Bonner County Board of Commissioners, where he served as chairman of the board. While there he successfully defended Bonner County from an attempt by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to close off nearly 400K acres of public lands.
As commissioner, he established the first-of-its-kind county advisory board called the “Property Rights Council,” which focused on reviewing government activities to determine whether they may have caused adverse impacts to private property rights. Unlike many governmental advisory boards, it sought private solutions instead of automatically proposing expanded government.
Cornel Rasor will bring his strong reputation for family values, community service, principled conservatism, and experience in government from North Idaho to Boise, as our Legislative District 1A State House Representative!
