Naples students told to be cautious at bus stops

School District 101 LogoNaples Elementary Principal Robin Merrifield sent students home Monday with a letter urging extra caution at bus stops as there have been reports of unfamiliar people near bus stops meriting extra vigilance.

The letter encourages parents to talk with their children about safety while at the bus stop or while walking to or from. It encourages students to:
• Stay in well-lit areas of the bus stop.
• Avoid talking to strangers.
• Refuse to accept rides from strangers.
• Stay close to others at the bus stop as there is safety in numbers.
• Report all suspicious activity immediately to a trusted adult.
• Call sheriff ‘s dispatch at (208) 267-3151 to report suspicious activity.
