In the wake of numerous recent fraud attempts the Bonners Ferry Police Department sends out a reminder that no legitimate law enforcement officer will call you asking for money, and if an officer tells you you owe money to the court, they will direct you to the courthouse, never to Western Union or a Coin Star machine.
If you are unsure if a request is legitimate, call the law enforcement agency or the court directly. If you are contacted by someone posing as a law enforcement officer asking for money, please keep hold of your cash … contact your local authorities.
