The National Weather Service, Spokane, has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow and high winds in North Idaho, in effect from 10 p.m. today until 4 p.m. Thursday.
Eight to 12 inches of snow is expected at elevationsabove3,000feet,two to six inches are expected in the valleys, with winds gusting to 50 miles per hour.
Driving conditions are expected to be treacherous and motorists are advised to travel only if necessary and, if you must drive, have a flashlight, blankets dry clothing, food and drinking water in your vehicle in case of emergency .Homeowners should be prepared for power outages.
