As part of the reclamation and clean-up of Ambush Rock, the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho is working with Goodfellow Bros. to remove the car bodies that are located along the shoreline of the Kootenai River. Ambush Rock is located adjacent to the Search and Rescue boat launch in Bonners Ferry. The Boundary County SAR Dive Team has volunteered to assist with the removal of the car debris as part of their emergency training program.
The SAR boat launch will be used as a pick-up location for the debris. The boat ramp will remain open to the public but will have intermittent closures to remove the metal debris.
If you are boating or recreating in the area, we are asking the you to watch out for and slow down for working boats, scuba divers, workers and heavy machinery in order to ensure a safer environment for both the public and workers.
Thank you for your patience while we work to clean up the Kootenai River shoreline.
