An old scam is once again being perpetrated in Bonners Ferry, this one targeting the elderly. A Bonners Ferry grandmother received a call today that came up on caller ID as Samuel Smith calling from telephone number (406) 885-3950.
“Grandma, do you know any federal agents who could bail me out?”
Unfortunately for him, he got the wrong number and a good chewing out for his feeble effort. Donna Jo Dirks knows her grandchildren and she does absolutely not suffer fools, especially fools who attempt to prey on the vulnerable.
“I hung up after telling him off,” she said. “I thought it was worth passing on to other ‘grandmas.'”
