Echoes make big news at BCH

Pediatric Echocardiography is now available at Boundary Community Hospital, and they’re proud to offer this specialized service right here in Bonners Ferry, giving families access to expert cardiac care for children without the burden of long travel.

Pediatric echo is a safe, non-invasive ultrasound that gives a detailed look at your child’s heart, and it’s used to detect and monitor various heart conditions with care and precision.

Cardiopulmonary Manager Wendy Pope has been the driving force behind bringing pediatric echoes to BCH. Her dedication to expanding local care options continues to make a meaningful impact on our community.

Board-certified sonographer Dannielle Marcin is specially trained in both adult and pediatric echocardiography. With credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), your child is in capable, compassionate hands.

Appointments are available twice a month, with all results read by pediatric cardiologists at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, Spokane.

  1. I am so glad to see this, Can you only imagine. 60 years ago I had a baby girl born in our hospital with a heart defect. Like I said, can you only imagine driving to Spokane for an EKG on a nine month squirming baby girl. Then have open heart surgery at four years of age and again when she was older. Oh how I would have liked the Echo for Peds at that time, I have had several Echo and they are so much simpler than they were to test 60 years ago.
