Beginning July 1, 2025, a fresh batch of laws will be in effect for Idaho residents. The new laws or changes in laws include but are not limited to; requiring cursive handwriting to be taught in schools, medical freedom, sex offender punishment, bathroom privacy, drug trafficking, driving permits, fishing licenses, license plates, homestead exemptions, sales tax and many more.
Here are a few examples of new laws to begin July 1 with a complete list from the Idaho Legislature attached:
Idaho Medical Freedom Act: Prohibits businesses, governments, and schools from requiring medical interventions for employment or services.
House Bill 264: Requires public facilities to clearly label shared areas as male-only or female-only, ensuring privacy for women.
House Bill 7: Expands punishments for various drug offenses in the state.
Idaho Constitutional Money Act: Recognizes gold and silver as legal tender in Idaho, allowing them to be accepted for debts.
House Bill 380: Establishes the death penalty for certain child sex abuse crimes.
House Bill 406: Imposes mandatory minimum sentencing for the trafficking of fentanyl and creates a felony crime of “drug-induced homicide”.
Senate Bill 1232: Ensures parents are notified of their rights during child protection investigations.
House Bill 498: Protects children from dangerous internet content.
