Charlene Kalb, Bonners Ferry, passed away March, 12, 2024, at the age of 87. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6784 Cody Street, Bonners Ferry.
She was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota, December 23, 1936. She attended all 12 years of school in the same building in Lakota, North Dakota. After graduating from high school, she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She received her degree in Business Education in 1958.
She then moved to Bonners Ferry to teach Typing and Business classes at Bonners Ferry High School.
It was there she met another teacher, George Kalb, and they were married in 1959. She taught at the high school for 39 years, retiring in June, 1997.
Charlene was an excellent seamstress and after retiring from teaching she kept busy making clothes and quilts for family and friends. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, John Peter and Anna Elvira Hatula and her husband, George Kalb.
She is survived by her children, Anne Kalb and her husband, Raymond Vezeau, Georgia Kalb, John Kalb and his wife, Tammie Kalb, Lynn Stone, and Paul Kalb, and his wife Diana Kalb: as well as grandchildren, Collin Stone, Kendall Stone, Evan Stone, Matthew Kalb, and Jarad Stone, Andrew and Kristin Kirby.
